CROSSCURRENTS OF TRAVEL: AFRICAN AND AFRICAN-AMERICAN TRAVEL NARRATIVES

This class will examine travel narratives written by Africans and African-Americans, beginning with the famous Medieval Moroccan traveler Ibn Battuta and continuing through antebellum slave narratives of travel before ending in the contemporary moment.

Note: If four (4.0) units are earned in this course, it will fulfill UCSB's American History and Institutions and Ethnic Studies requirements for College of Creative Studies students.
