UNDERSTANDING CULTURES THROUGH FILM

This course is based upon the course on Intercultural Communication taught in the Winter Quarter. We will watch films by international filmmakers and then explore them in a group discussion. The films are specifically chosen not only to entertain but also to raise questions about cross-cultural interaction/ relationships and invite the audience to a higher level of reflection and awareness of the cultures that we are a part of and those that we are not. We have a wonderful opportunity to examine the films from different cultural perspectives due to the multicultural composition of the class members.

Instructor(s): Dan Smith
