LITERATURE CS 111, Section 1 EC # 28779
CUBAN NARRATIVE AFTER THE REVOLUTION

This survey course focuses on the principal narrative trends that have emerged or consolidated during by the Cuban Revolution, including also the works of political exiles. We will explore the connections of these novels and short stories to the Neo-Baroque, the Neo-Fantastic, Magic Realism, and Dirty Realism. Special attention will be given to the pivotal role that ethnicity, gender, ideology and socio-economic status play in the formation of the cultural identity of contemporary Cuba.
