BORGES AND HIS PRECURSORS

Borgesian is an adjective that has invaded global cultural currency. Through our readings of Argentine Jorge Luis Borges's Ficciones and other works, we will explore Borges' creative revolution and his invention of the 'reader as writer'. In the process we will re-learn Western culture through his readings as we examine certain texts by major European and/or North American writers and thinkers who have informed the "Borgesian" text.

Note(s): This course is offered concurrently with Spanish 190 in Spring 2007.
