ART CS 104, Section 1 EC # 01040
PRINT IMAGES: HIGH/LOW TECH AND HYBRID METHODS

The course will focus on ways for creating print images using a variety of methods and techniques possible in the CCS and Art Studio print shops. We will specifically approach printmaking as both an extension of and a convergence for other 2D and 3D ways of working. Printmaking is an art form with considerable technical steps, limitations and size constraints. Pushing these issues will be our approach. We will explore a variety of traditional and hybrid combinations to develop and expand the space of the 2D print surface.

This class is open to students who have previously taken a Letterpress printing course in CCS or Print 14 in Art Studio or Printmaking prior to transferring to UCSB, and are interested in further developing their print works. Students must also be able to attend Lab on Wednesday evenings, and spend time outside of class working in the print facilities.

Please feel free to contact the instructor if you have questions: ekstrom@arts.ucsb.edu

The class will be limited to 12 students and final enrollment will be determined at the first class meeting.

Class limited to 12 students.
