This course will explore the book as a structure and as a space for the containment and interplay of words and images. In an attempt to cover a broad range of options for future book projects, we will create basic structures, bindings and forms within the tradition of artists' books and explore ways to vary on these. Technique and rigor will be addressed in ways that also emphasize content?content in both the structure and that which the structure holds. We will also spend time looking at and analyzing existing book structures and options for your own projects. Course reading material and research will also assist the student to develop a limited edition book project. In addition to the class meeting time, students must also be able to attend lab on Thursday evenings from 5:30-8:00 PM. Enrollment is limited to 10 students and will be finalized by instructor on the first day of class. Instructor(s): Linda Ekstrom Time(s): Wednesday, 1:00 pm-4:30 pm, Thursday, 5:30 pm-8:00 pm Place(s): Bldg. 494, Rm. 107 << Back |
