(2 quarter commitment) This is the second quarter of a two-quarter sequence course--continuing as before on M, W nights--but is open to new participants (see following)! There is parallel enrollment for fall quarter participants in this quarter's "Sound, Stage and Image for the Musical" course. [instructor: Scott Cazan] Both instructors on the Musical are present together in a shared plenary session so as to be in full, frequent contact as the material transits onto stage and screen. NEW ENROLLMENT IS ENCOURAGED FOR PROSPECTIVE CAST, MUSICIANS, and COMPOSERS. ART STUDENTS unable to enroll in the Sound, Stage and Image course should consider this one as a 2nd option. CONTINUING ENROLLMENT applies for the entire creative team from Fall Quarter '11. This quarter "CCS: The Musical!" moves into its absorbing production phase. There will be auditions within the initial weeks placing actors and voices on material the students wrote during the Fall. Jeremy Haladyna and cast lead Amanda Terman will guide students through the casting and property refinement phases, which lead eventually to nightly rehearsal. The "Creative Team" participants from Fall '11, as well as those newly enrolled, will receive vital production roles in the "Sound, Stage, and Image for the Musical" course being led by Scott Cazan. The material--lyrics, dialogue and songs--will be brought to the table by those students who worked absorbingly on this during fall quarter. But we will still be heavily involved in "finishing" work here, including music for titles, crucial underscoring and instrumental transitions. There will also be considerable arranging work--fleshing out piano-vocal originals for the stage band. And the writers' refinement of dialogue will reflect important input from the cast. Singers and performers are encouraged to enroll upon a successful audition, as they will literally bring the show to life. Composers, too, will make important contributions to the music rehearsals, giving interpretational guidance to singers on the music they have written. Plus, students will gain valuable insight on blocking out scenes for stage and television, planning camera angles, prompting cast and in observing stage direction. Some of these elements will be enhanced by the synchronous course offering by Scott Cazan on Sound, Stage and Image for the TV Musical. Given this arrangement, expect our production to set a new standard for tech production potential currently possible in the Old Little Theater. Instructor(s): Jeremy Haladyna Time(s): Monday and Wednesday, 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm Place(s): Bldg. 494, Rm. 164 << Back |
