 To be eligible for a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, students must meet the general university requirements and the appropriate college and major requirements. They must also comply with Academic Procedures and Regulations as specified in the Undergraduate Education section of the UCSB General Catalog.

These must be met by ALL UCSB students, regardless of college. They are listed briefly below. Please see University Bachelor's Degree Requirements in the Undergraduate Education section of the UCSB General Catalog for explanations.
a) Satisfaction of the Subject A - English Composition requirement by completion of a course, or by examination.
b) Satisfaction of the American History and Institutions requirement by completion of an applicable course (see UCSB General Catalog for a list of acceptable courses) or by examination. Occasionally a CCS course will be offered that will satisfy this requirement, by petition.
c) Completion of 180 Quarter Units.
d) Satisfaction of the Academic Residence requirement (a minimum of three terms at UCSB).
Note: There is a six-quarter residence requirement at CCS.
e) Minimum overall grade-point average of 2.0 in UC courses taken for letter grades.
f) Officially "Declare Candidacy for Bachelors Degree" with the Registrar's Office, using GOLD. |

College of Creative Studies Requirements |
a) Completion of two courses in fields outside but related to the emphasis, as determined in consultation with your CCS advisor.
b) Completion of eight courses broadly distributed in fields unrelated to the emphasis (not including Physical Activities or Writing I) as determined in consultation with your CCS advisor.
c) Students must complete one course (4 units) in Ethnic Studies: "A course that concentrates on the intellectual, social, and cultural experiences of one of the following groups: Native-Americans, African-Americans, Mexican or Asian-Americans." Courses that fulfill the Ethnic Studies requirement are listed in the UCSB General Catalog. Sometimes one course can be taken that fulfills both the AH&I and the Ethnic Studies requirements.
d) Six full academic quarters of residence in CCS.
e) File statement of "Intent to Graduate" with Leslie two full quarters before anticipated graduation date (e.g., if you wish to graduate in June 2004 you should file the statement in the CCS office at the beginning of Winter Quarter 2004). |
