CCS computer science students can start their studies
by following an accelerated curriculum covering the requisite mathematical
foundations of computer science as well as programming techniques, quickly
paving the way to more advanced upper-division courses. The upper-division
courses cover preparatory material for diverse specialization such as
Networks, Distributed Computing, Theory of Computation, Algorithm Design,
Computer Graphics, Compilers, Database Theory, etc. and provide both the
depth and breadth necessary for graduate level research at top ranked
institutions in the U.S. and abroad.
Early in their studies, CCS/CS students can get involved as active participants
in a number of innovative and challenging research programs and projects,
which are typically reserved for graduate students. These range from purely
theoretical studies to programming parallel computers for important applications
in other fields of science. CCS Computer Science students are expected
to maintain a 3.0 GPA in their major courses.

CCS/CS BS/MS Degree Program
CCS in conjunction
with the Computer Science Department in the College of Engineering offers
a five year BS/MS program for qualified students. If you are interested
in pursuing the BS/MS track, please obtain details about the program in
the CCS office, Rm. 14. Candidates must apply during their Junior year
and begin planning their curriculum. |
