Course Description

The course will take an energetic and ambitious approach to the subject of artists' books, publications and book works. Students will conduct research and create models in class and then respond with works of their own that draw connections to these structures. Students will develop greater understanding for the relationship between content and book formats, and designing a publication that more effectively conveys the information it holds. This course is open to both beginning and experienced students. Be prepared to work quickly but also to delve deeply into the materials and practices of making books. Class will meet Wednesday from 1-4:50 for research and making. This will be followed by a 2 hour evening lab on Wednesday from 6-8 for presentations of response projects.

You must be able to attend both class and lab.
