REIMAGINING MUSIC THEATER: NARRATIVE, MUSIC, COLLABORATION

Course Description

An exploration of American Musical Theater, focusing on innovation in narrative, music, and staging. Class activities will be combination of guest presentations, student presentations, discussion, and small group work. The goal will be for pairs or small groups of students to create a self-contained exercise in musical theater—a scene or a mini-musical. If all goes well, we’ll have workshop performances of these collaborations at the end of the term (or perhaps the beginning of the next term).
