Directed by Dr. Sarah Gibson, the UC Santa Barbara Ensemble for Contemporary Music will present "Finding Your Place" on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 6 pm as a YouTube Premiere via the Department of Music’s YouTube channel. Including thirteen world premieres of compositions written specifically for ECM's fabulous performers by UCSB's student composers, each composer and performer responds musically to the theme of "Place" in their collaborative solo work.

Join us at the “CCS Lounge” to discuss with Dean Gerardo Aldana his vision to create transformational experiences in learning, research, and outreach to inspire current and future generations of students.

Distinguished panelists representing students, alumni, parents, faculty, and staff will be joining Dean Aldana for this lively discussion. 

In CCS fashion, we are all about having fun too! Engage with us through interactive activities, including polls and trivia as well as be the first to have a sneak preview into the dean’s goat story! 

This event is part of the UCSB Library's Pacific Views Speaker Series. 

In the two decades before the Civil War, a new type of capitalism developed in the northern United States that stressed mass education, widespread innovation, and new markets for art and design. Through creative labor, Black abolitionists highlighted the evils of slavery and made a compelling case for racial equality.

Through a Zoom webinar, Dean Aldana will give this year’s opening address (his first!). In this webinar, we will also broadcast a recorded series of introductions from CCS Faculty, a brief self-introduction from our CCS Staff, and a greeting from CCS’s Community Council. We anticipate this meeting should be finished by 10:45.
